Death & Taxes

All of our lives we have heard, more than a few times, the saying; “the only two things certain in life are death and taxes.”  And this axiom has definitely stood the test of time.  Fortunately with both taxes and funerals, we have come to understand that with organization, education and planning…we have the ability to control the outcome.

The analogy  that the planning of a funeral has similarities to that of  wedding planning makes sense because  you need the following.

  • A venue
  • Announcements
  • Clergy
  • Flowers
  • Transportation
  • Money
  • Wardrobe
  • Music
  • Reception

Now imagine making all of those decisions for a funeral in the scope of only a couple of hours in comparison to the months, sometimes years, that was taken to plan the wedding. Crazy, right?

Finally, consider planning that same wedding without the bride and groom’s input and hoping to get it right.   Planning is a part of our everyday life…whether for significant events such as a wedding, starting a family, taxes, vacations, retirement to everyday functions such as getting gas, doing laundry, attending a meeting, going to the store or organizing dinner.

In fact…just about everything we do in life is accomplished by virtue of some level of planning…often times for things we are not even sure will happen…but we want to be prepared anyway. So when it comes to the one event that we are certain will happen…give your family the priceless gift of advance funeral planning…don’t leave them standing at the altar.
